The Amon Carter Museum of American Art (ACMAA), a cultural cornerstone of Fort Worth, was originally designed by Philip Johnson in 1961 to celebrate American art and creativity while embracing the city’s panoramic views and community spirit. The museum’s iconic shellstone-clad building and sunken grassy plaza reflect a harmonious blend of modernist architecture and the surrounding landscape. Over the years, the museum has undergone significant transformations, including additions, demolitions, and a landmark renovation in 2019, shifting the collection display from chronological to thematic, fostering an atmosphere of exploration and accessibility. With a mission of “Art for All,” the Amon Carter provides free admission, maintains open public grounds, and prioritizes accessibility, ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment for all visitors.

The Projects Group (TPG) began working with the Amon Carter Museum in 2017, serving as the Owner’s Representative during the museum’s 2019 building and gallery renovation. TPG facilitated the integration of custom modular walls, an LED-coffer system, and expanded gallery spaces, enhancing both functionality and the visitor experience.

Beyond the renovation, TPG has continued to support the museum’s ongoing capital and facilities initiatives, including boiler and chiller replacements, energy-efficiency upgrades, cold storage vault installations, and landscape master planning efforts. TPG is also currently assisting with the development and implementation of a new Central Utility Plant (CUP) delivered through a design-build process, enabling the museum to fully replace critical mechanical infrastructure while maintaining uninterrupted operations and environmental stability for the collection.

Additionally, TPG manages a transformative connective project linking the Amon Carter with neighboring museums and revitalizing a historic boulevard to strengthen connectivity across Fort Worth’s Cultural District.
