Completed in 2022, Steinmetz Hall at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts is a world-class, multi-form venue designed to host opera, ballet, orchestral music, and a wide range of performance types with unmatched acoustic quality. The centerpiece of the Center’s long-awaited Phase II expansion, Steinmetz Hall seats up to 1,700 guests and features transformative architecture and technology—most notably, a motorized acoustic shell and a rotating, flattening orchestra floor that allows the space to shift between traditional theater and flat-floor event configurations in minutes. Designed to achieve an N1 sound rating—the lowest level of ambient sound detectable by the human ear—the hall is one of the most acoustically advanced venues in the world and serves as home to the Orlando Philharmonic, Opera Orlando, and Orlando Ballet, as well as a range of national and international artists.

The Projects Group was engaged as Owner’s Representative and Project Manager for Phase II of the Dr. Phillips Center, providing strategic leadership throughout the design and construction of Steinmetz Hall. TPG managed the complex coordination between multiple stakeholders, design and engineering teams, and specialty consultants to ensure delivery of this highly technical facility on time and within budget. Our scope included oversight of budget and schedule controls, support with contract procurement and administration, and management of complex construction logistics—including vibration isolation, acoustic performance targets, and the integration of advanced mechanical and theatrical systems.
