Originally opened in 1949, the Forest Theater is a cherished icon of South Dallas’ cultural history and a beacon of arts and music. Once home to legendary performances and vibrant community gatherings, the long-vacant venue is now being reimagined as a dynamic center for performance, education, and neighborhood revitalization. The renovation and expansion will restore the historic marquee and auditorium while transforming the site into a multi-purpose hub that includes a 1,100-seat flexible concert hall, 100-seat Black Box studio, a creative education lab, rooftop terrace, catering kitchen, expanded back-of-house spaces, and new outdoor gathering areas. Anchored by the nonprofit Forest Forward and designed by HKS, this project is central to a larger vision of community investment and cultural renaissance in South Dallas.

The Projects Group is providing full Owner’s Representative and Project Management services from pre-design through construction. Our team supported early-stage planning efforts, including consultant selection, proforma development, and a comprehensive food and beverage study to inform operational planning. We are currently leading the construction process. Throughout the project, TPG is facilitating coordination between the design team, community stakeholders, and Forest Forward to ensure the project remains aligned with its cultural mission, technical requirements, and long-term sustainability goals.
