Keith House is a gift to the people of Fort Worth from the Meta Alice Keith Bratten Foundation, created to honor the legacy of Meta Alice Keith Bratten (1926–2007). Located on a two-acre wooded site along the Trinity River in the Clearfork development, the 3,200-square-foot limestone building serves as a non-sectarian gathering place for peace, contemplation, and community. The structure reinterprets the traditional meeting house with a veranda, a 40-by-40-foot central hall, and movable pew seating for more than 100 people. At its heart is Come to Good (2024), James Turrell’s 99th Skyspace installation. Through a retractable roof aperture and LED lighting sequences, the Skyspace immerses visitors in a transformative play of light and sky at sunrise and sunset, with alternate sequences presented during inclement weather.
The Projects Group provided owner’s representation and project management services from design through construction for this landmark cultural destination. A defining element of the project was the use of limestone salvaged from the Keith family’s historic Wichita Falls home, which had burned down. The stone was carefully cut and repurposed by masons using archival photos of the original house as reference. Placement was meticulous, as every piece was finite—if any broke, there was no replacement. TPG coordinated these preservation-driven efforts while also managing the integration of Turrell’s technically complex Skyspace. Our scope encompassed budget and schedule management, stakeholder engagement, and oversight of construction activities, resulting in a space that balances artistry, heritage, and community purpose. Today, Keith House serves as both a contemplative public space and a flexible venue for nonprofits and community gatherings, reinforcing the Foundation’s mission to create enduring places that inspire reflection, creativity, and connection.
