The Saban Center is a landmark cultural and educational destination under The Saban Center is a major cultural and educational destination under development in Tuscaloosa’s River District. Conceived as “The Center of It All,” it will unite STEAM-based discovery, children’s theater, and interactive learning under one roof in the repurposed Tuscaloosa News Building. A flagship project of the City’s Elevate Tuscaloosa initiative, the $120 million facility will combine literature, science, arts, and recreation with flexible meeting and conference space. Strategically located near the Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater and Parker-Haun Park, the Center will anchor a cultural corridor that enriches education, community life, and regional identity.

The Projects Group, in partnership with Volkert, Inc., was engaged during the project’s early phases to provide owner’s representation and project management services. Our role included guiding feasibility analysis, assisting with the design team selection process, aligning scopes and contracts, and coordinating stakeholders through pre-design and programming. While our involvement concluded prior to construction, TPG’s early contributions helped lay the groundwork for this complex public-private initiative, positioning the Saban Center for successful delivery as a transformative civic and educational investment.
