Fort Worth Botanic Gardens

The Fort Worth Botanic Garden (FWBG), established in 1934, is Texas’s oldest major botanic garden and a cherished cultural landmark. With 120 acres of curated landscapes, 23 specialty gardens, and more than 2,500 plant species, it serves as a hub for horticultural display, public programming, and community engagement. In 2020, FWBG merged with the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT), creating a unified nonprofit dedicated to horticulture, conservation, and education. Together, FWBG | BRIT functions as both a living museum and research institution, housing a 1.5 million-specimen herbarium and offering programs that engage more than 13,000 students and families annually.

For nearly two decades, The Projects Group has supported FWBG | BRIT as Owner’s Representative, managing capital projects that preserve the site’s historic character while enabling long-term institutional growth. Our work includes the LEED Platinum-certified BRIT headquarters, the phased restoration of the historic Oval Rose Garden, the new Baker Martin Family Garden, and the construction of a 30-foot retaining wall adjacent to the Will Rogers complex—all delivered with careful phasing to ensure uninterrupted access for guests, staff, and programming. We’ve also worked closely with Garden leadership to provide long-range facility assessments and implementation strategies aligned with the evolving master plan. Across every effort, we’ve collaborated with horticulturists, educators, city officials, and design teams to ensure each project advances the visitor experience and supports the Garden’s broader mission of education, conservation, sustainability, and botanical excellence.
