PREDATOR RIDGE
Fort Worth, TX
Part of the
Fort Worth Zoo’s transformational capital campaign A Wilder Vision, Predator Ridge is a multi-phase habitat redesign that immerses visitors in the diverse ecosystems of Asia and Africa. Completed in 2023, this ambitious project reimagines the Zoo’s carnivore experience—introducing new species, enriching environments, and immersive guest pathways. Through innovative exhibit design and themed environments, guests can now walk through caves and grottos, observe apex predators up close, and explore a vibrant aviary filled with exotic bird calls. The project celebrates biodiversity and enhances animal wellbeing with expanded, naturalistic enclosures that reflect each species’ native landscape.
The Projects Group served as Owner’s Representative throughout the multi-year redevelopment of Predator Ridge, from initial planning through construction. Our role included coordinating with Fort Worth Zoo leadership, Edge Themed Environments, and the full design and construction team to manage phased delivery and minimize impact on operations. We helped implement creative solutions for complex exhibit features—including predator-viewing glass, immersive trail systems, water features, and over 100 newly planted trees. The final habitat showcases 14 predator and bird species, including African lions, clouded leopards, cheetahs, and red-crowned cranes, and features over 170,000 pounds of hand-laid sod and 1,500 gallons of recirculating water per minute. Opened in June 2023, Predator Ridge is now one of the Zoo’s most dynamic and interactive visitor experiences.
